India’s preference for poured concrete and brick building construction provides several benefits. Concrete possesses a thermal mass that helps keep dwellings cool throughout the day, it’s robustness is also well suited to humid & wet climates. Another perk of  this building method is that it is very ‘extension friendly’, allowing construction to be completed as time & finances see fit. Steel re-bar can often be found protruding from walls dangling into nowhere…

This way of compiling structures over time has resulted in sights like this: a half completed, half unfinished hybrid
