Saris are fun.

September 23, 2011

It takes two to sari.

Saturday the 17th was Cultural Day, when all the students wear traditional clothing and take photos of each other. Rooya and I borrowed saris off our very lovely friends (most of them are pictured above) and posed like crazy (Pat was representing the cross cultural mix of Australia and India). This was followed by a series of performances, from musical numbers, to solo dances to full scale bollywood productions, one with a motorcycle as a prop. The fourth year batch did three of their own group dances, as a sort of farewell to the rest of the school. Being in fourth year and having fourth year friends here, Rooya and I got roped in too and spent hours the night before learning cheesy old bollywood moves that everyone else seemed to know already because they had grown up watching them. Rooya felt a bit ‘sick’ on the night, so I was left to be the only foreigner in the dance getting tangled up in her sari. Luckily there are no photos.
